Meet Katie O’Brien
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and helping others discover their own voice has become one of my greatest passions. Whether you’re taking your first lesson, preparing for an audition, returning to music to music after years away, or simply looking to grow as a performer, my goal is to create a supportive environment where you can build confidence, develop healthy technique, and enjoy the process of making music.
As both a professional performer and an experienced educator, I understand the challenges that musicians face because I live them myself. Every lesson is personalized to your goals, experience level, and learning style, so that you can make meaningful progress while enjoying the journey.

My Musical Journey
My musical journey began at an early age and eventually led me to earn my Master’s degree in Music from The Boston Conservatory. Throughout my education, I developed a strong foundation in vocal technique, musicianship, performance, and pedagogy while studying with exceptional teachers and performing in a wide variety of musical settings.
Over the years, I’ve continued to grow not only as a musician, but also as an educator, constantly refining my teaching methods to help students reach their fullest potential.
Why I Teach
Teaching allows me to combine everything I love about music with the opportunity to make a lasting difference in people’s lives.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching students discover abilities they didn’t realize they had. Whether it’s singing confidently for the first time, preparing for a school musical, learning a favorite song on the piano, or simply enjoying the music in a new way, every milestone is worth celebrating.
I believe lessons should be both challenging and encouraging. Students learn best when they feel supported, understood, and empowered to take risks in a positive environment.
Professional Experience
In addition to teaching, I am an active professional singer and the owner and lead vocalist of KTO Band, performing regularly throughout New England at weddings, festivals, corporate events, and private celebrations.
Remaining an active performer allows me to bring real-world experience into every lesson. My students don’t just learn from textbooks—they learn from someone who continues to perform professionally, prepares for demanding performances, maintains vocal health, and understands what it takes to succeed onstage.
For more than a decade, I have worked with children, teens, and adults of all experience levels, helping students prepare for auditions, performances, school ensembles, community theatre, professional enrichment, and lifelong musical growth.
My Philosophy
Every student is different, and I believe that every lesson should reflect that.
Rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum, I tailor each lesson to the individual student’s goals, strengths, interests, and learning style. Together we’ll bring strong technique, develop musicianship, improve confidence, and create a clear path toward your personal goals.
Most importantly, I want my studio to be a comfortable place where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, celebrating progress, and discovering the joy that comes from making music.
Whether your dream is performing on stage, auditioning for a musical, improving your vocal technique, learning piano, or simply enjoying music as a lifelong hobby, I’d be honored to be a part of your journey.
